Get involved
Here’s your chance to get involved and give back to your community! Chuck us a few bucks for our essential mahi if you’re able to, donate your time or check out job opportunities on this page. If you’re looking for other ways to get involved in your community, head over to ‘what we do’, or get in touch.
How you can contribute
If you appreciate our mahi, we’d love your support. We run primarily on grants which we’re very thankful for, but they don’t always allow us to do all of the community mahi we see is needed. Every donation is appreciated.
If you make a donation, we’d love to say thank you, so feel free to send us an email if you do!

Opportunities
Mahi / Work
Currently we do not have any other paid mahi opportunities.
Volunteer
Death Cafe facilitator
We run a monthly Death Cafe, which is an opportunity for people to get together to talk frankly about death. We're looking for someone who is a good facilitator and keen on holding space for these important conversations to join the volunteer team. Check out the Facebook event for more context and Email Ellie if you're interested.
Newtown News contributors
If you live in or love Newtown, you could be a contributor to the Newtown News, our little zine for Newtown, by Newtowners. We’re always looking for casual writers and artists for this free publication. Email us if you’re interested in being added to the contributors list – you’ll get an email each month with the theme, asking if you’re interested in contributing.
Newtown News deliverers
We distribute around 750 copies of the Newtown News around the suburb each month, so if you’re a keen walker, get in touch! You could deliver your own road, or do a longer trip and explore Newtown – whatever works for your schedule. Contact us if you’re interested.
Newtown Tool Librarians
If you love tools and DIY and are available on occasional Wednesdays 5-7pm or Saturdays 11am-1pm, you could join our Tool Library as a Tool Librarian! Helping our community save money and reduce waste – by fixing things AND by not buying unnecessary tools.
Newtown Tool Library ad-hoc volunteers
Can’t make the dates/times above but support the kaupapa of the Tool Library? We run occasional working bees at different times to do odd jobs around the Tool Library – e.g. going through donated tools, repairing broken tools etc. Contact us if you’re interested.
Wellington Timebank
Timebankers are NOT traditional volunteers, but it’s an awesome way to make an impact in your community. Individuals and community organisations post offers and requests for skills on the Timebank’s online platform and you can respond, offering your time in exchange for time credits – which you can then use in exchange for others’ skills!
