Wash Against Waste - A Hire-able Community Resource
Wash Against Waste is a resource containing reusable cutlery, plates, bowls, cups and cloth napkins that can be borrowed by the public for the purpose of reducing the use of single use products thereby reducing waste to landfill. Our landfills are reaching bursting point, and the earth’s resources are being depleted at a rate at which the earth can’t replenish. It is our duty to conserve the planet’s precious resources and to act as Kaitiaki, or Guardians, so that we don’t hand-down a dying wasteland to our future generations! Hiring the Wash Against Waste kit for your next event or party is one way to do your bit for Papatūānuku!
In September of 2020 we re-vamped the kit (after receiving a ‘waste minimisation grant’ from Wellington City Council – thanks WCC!) from the heavy old crockery kit – it was hard to store and transport! We’re now using lighter and safer bamboo fibre options in funky shades of pinks and blues.
We are now providing kits for events of twenty people, each kit has all you need for a waste-free event for 20 people! If your event will have 60 guests – then you’ll want to order three kits. If your event has seventy invitees then you’ll want to order 4 kits – for 80. You just won’t use the whole kit!
The maximum number of full kits we have for hire is five, meaning you can hold a waste free event for 100 people.
Due to how popular our crockery kits were, we have been able to arrange 2 mini kits of these products, for up to 40 people.
