Inside the Community Centre:

We are no longer taking hires for the Newtown Community Centre as we are closing on 11th April. See more about our renovations here.

Newtown Hall and Network Newtown are still available and we hope to have hire space in our temporary space at 2a Green Street from May 2021.

We have a variety of halls and meeting rooms available for hire by individuals, community groups, and corporate organisations at affordable rates. Our rates of hire are below. All are at the discretion of our Kaiwhakahaere / Coordinators.

Theatre

Capacity: 80-100 people
Cost: $16 per hour (fundraisers/free community events) / $20 per hour (public/community) / $30 per hour (commercial/private)

Facilities:
The theatre has a polished wooden floor, a baby grand piano in excellent condition, and beautiful natural acoustics. Please note that the floor slopes on a slight gradient down towards the stage, and that the previous lighting rig and sound system has been decommissioned due to safety regulations. 


Dance Hall

Capacity: 50-80 people
Cost: $16 per hour (fundraisers/free community events) / $20 per hour (public/community) / $30 per hour (commercial/private)

Facilities:
The hall has a wooden floor ideal for dance or exercise. 
It has mirrors along one wall.

Seminar Room

Capacity: 10-15 people
Cost: $11 per hour (fundraisers/free community events) / $15 per hour (public/community) / $25 per hour (commercial/private)

Facilities:
The seminar room is upstairs in our centre, so is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties.  It has its own heater and sink, and a large whiteboard attached to the wall. Please note, there is no longer a hot water zip in the Seminar Room.


Corner Room

Capacity: 4-5 people
Cost: $8 per hour (public/community) / $18 per hour (commercial/private)

Facilities:
The corner room is a small private room upstairs in our centre, so is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties.  The corner room is most commonly used by our community massage therapists and counsellors.

Kitchen

Hire of all rooms includes use of common bathroom and kitchen facilities.

The kitchen is equipped with two gas ovens, a fridge, a hot water zip, a microwave, and a dishwasher.
We have a good amount of crockery and cutlery available for use, but please check in if we have sufficient for your event!




The Community Centre is in a residential zone so we have a noise curfew of 10:30pm for use of all rooms.
In some instances we require a bond for hire.
